House Orlock

I had some spare time between trains at work so I started working on my first gang.
The minis are Dark Realm Miniatures Jungle Fighters.
There are only 5 poses so at the moment I'm just adding berets and do-rags to differentiate them somewhat, later I'll probably do some weapon swaps once I get an idea of what weapon loadouts I'm going to need.

Here's a pic of the regular gangers

So shotguns, sword and knife, sword and gun and grenade launcher.
I gave one of the guys with the grenade launchers a sword but I think I may end up redoing that as it did not come out quite as I had envisionned it.

I also did two heavy weapons, a heavy bolter and a heavy stubber, I included the original figure so you could see what they started off as.

After sorting through my leadpile I'm thinking of starting three gangs the Orlocks as seen above, Ratskins and house Goliath.
As I have never played Necromunda before any tips on a good balanced starting force for any of these gangs are more then welcome. It might also help guide me as to what figures to try and model so do feel free to chime in.

Cheers,
Stroezie.

On To The Painting !

I finished building my Nanomunda sump board!

I may have gone a bit overboard detailing the canals 😎

Here are a few more pictures so you can see the build before I blackbomb it.

And now it's time to start thinking about how I'm going to paint all of this.

I'd like to try and go for this look for the decking

Mine won't look nearly as good but hey "aim for perfection, settle for good enough" 😜

If you know of any good tutorials for this kind of thing, please feel free to share, cause at the moment I really don't have a clue how to even start.

I think I'll experiment on a few scrap pieces first and see what's realistic for my skill level.
Hopefully I'll have something more to share with you soon.

Cheers,
Stroezie.

More News From The Sump.

Work on the lowest part of my hive continues, I'm hoping to finish the building part somewhere around the end of next week and then it'll be on to the painting...

I've also started sculpting some fauna and flora to bring a little more life to my canals

Big rats and spiders, but nothing any experienced sump dweller can't handle

And some shrooms, one can never have enough shrooms 😏

I'm thinking of maybe doing some carnivorous plants and some kind of lurking sump-monster to, no idea what that's going to look like yet, suggestions are always welcome.

Cheers,
Stroezie.

More Micromunda

Well I finished painting the industrial/machinery pieces and the concrete floor.

It's finally starting to look like something 😁

Turns out the big tower is also ideal for showcasing minis.😎

Some judges escorting a convict are ambushed by gangers...

Well that's it then...     the board is finished...   right?

Weeeelllllll....

see here's the thing...

while looking for inspiration I came across the exellent Yaktribe forums (some really awesome builds on there, check them out  Link) and it turnes out in a hive you can go up, but you can also go down so...

Sump canals here I come !!!

The first nine tiles giving me the same size of board as the concrete floor (ie. 37x37 cm)

Ooohh I'm going to have so much fun detailing those canals...

Well thats it for now.

Cheers,
Stroezie.

Ps: does anybody know where I can get my hands on some 6mm venetian gondolas πŸ‘Ώ

Micromunda Buildings.

Well I managed to finish painting the buildings and walkways,
a little lick of paint makes all the difference don't you think? 😎

And of course I couldn't resist playing around with a quick setup to get an idea how things will look once to whole thing's finished.

I'm afraid the lighting has washed out the colors on the buildings somewhat, they actually look a lot more splotchy and rundown in real life, maybe once I tone down the glare from the board it'll show up better in the pictures.

That's it for now, time to get to painting the industrial machinery and I've been thinking about maybe doing some modular canals to add some more depth to the board so stay tuned.πŸ˜‰

Stroezie.

Micromunda Wasn't Built In A Day...

...but the first stage is done anyway😎

I thought I'd share some more pictures with you so you can see/guess at, the materials before I blackbomb the lot.

First up the initial set of buildings and walkways

I also decided to spice up the buildings with some electrical wiring and some airfans.

These pilons are for when one walkway just isn't long enough.
I may end up putting some more greeblies on them as they are a bit plain looking atm. then again maybe not...   we'll see.

Next some of the more industrial looking bits.

A large storage tank/tower

which can split into two smaller ones

and as I was taking the pictures it suddenly occured to me that if you put the ring back on it could also function as a landing pad for "Get to da choppa" scenarios.

a small storage tank, probably for some kind of strange bio-agent or something

A water recycling plant

and last but not least a few more generic pieces

Now, if the weather holds, I should be able to prime these during the weekend and if all goes well get some paint on them by the end of next week.

I will also begin texturing one of the place mats/boards with magnetic paint to look like a concrete floor and start looking into ways to weather the other place mat into a less shiny/ slightly rusty version of itself. (any and all tips how to go about doing this are more than welcome)

Cheers,
Stroezie.

Micromunda / Clau Tactics Nano.

Ok folks,
so as promised, here's the first update on the construction of my new Necromunda style industrial board.

First though I'd like to give a shout out to Darryl Hunt of the exelent blog Daxio's Uneventfull Day. I totally stole copied his idea for Necromunda buildings and then used my trusty shrink ray on themπŸ˜‹.

Now, what did I build so far?
Lets take a look.

So , four buildings, four walkways and a platform, not to shabby.

I plan on doing two more buildings, one medium and one large, two more walkways without cover and three extra long walkways plus supports.

Here's a few pictures to give you an idea of the kind of setups I'm going to use them for, I threw in some random figures from my collection to give you a sense of the scale.

Another benefit of this construction method is that the smaller buildings fit inside the larger ones for easy storage.

Apart from the buildings and walkways I've also begun assembling some bits and bobs to build a few more industrial/machinery looking
pieces.
More on those next time.

well ok then just a teaser picture

That's it for now, as usual critiques, comments or questions are more than welcome.

Cheers,
Stroezie.

All Is Quiet On The Ares Front... Or Not ?!?

It has been a bit quiet here due to me being a bit distracted by my 15mm (Gasp..) Conan project but...

.... things are about to change.

Now that it looks like the Age Of Tyrants kickstarter is finally about to ship my mind has been awhirl with crazy ideas for a 6mm, Necromunda style, board complete with stackable buildings/towers and multiple stories off gantries (magnetised of course πŸ˜‰ )

I have been rooting through my boxes of junk building materials and now have a tub full of soon to be industrial scenery.

The board will be a 37 x 37 cm metal place mat from Ikea which should give me the equivalent of a 148 x 148 cm, 28mm board.( not bad! )

With a bit of luck I should have the first structures built by the end of the week.

Till then I'll leave you with some pics of the last 6mm figs I painted,
more Micro Wastelanders for Mega City 6.

I hope you enjoy them,

Cheers,
Stroezie.

Powell's Rangers to the Rescue !!!

Howdy folks,

sorry it's been so long since my last post.
What can I say, a busy time at work followed by me having trouble getting my hobby mojo back.
Rest assured though I'm back in full swing now (got tons of plans/projects) and regular postings should resume.

So what got me back in the saddle?
These guys from Onslaught Miniatures.

I present to you Powell's Rangers, shown here with their nano-flage set to parade colors.
They are an elite mercenary unit whose adventures will be the focus my next 6mm campaign.

As you can see all the figures were modified at least a little to make them fit my own universe some what better.
I started by removing the second rocket packs on the right shoulders of all the figures.
The pink rig got a weapons upgrade from the standard DEG gun to an autocannon as a squad support weapon.
The yellow rig got an electronic warfare suite added to her right shoulder.
And finaly the blue rig was fitted with a heavy missile pod and artillary cannon to provide long range fire support.

What will all this awesome firepower be use on you ask?

Well for starters...

..... BUG STOMPING OF COURSE !!!

Can you say Blue Gender

Also other enemy mecha both regular army and rival mercs for some roller scating VOTOMS action.
(Can never get enough of that😎)

And of course it wouldn't be scifi without some evil corporation with it's own private army now would it?

I'll be using my usual mash-up of rules to allow for solo play, enoug grit to suit me and story developpement.

Considering my track record with doing AAR's ( ie. complete failure) I've decided I will aim low and settle for taking a few in game pictures and writing a short blurb on the overall action.
If I can manage to do a few of those I'll see about going more in depth.

Well that's it for now,

Cheers,
Stroezie.

Because I can !

Sometimes I get an idea to build something, not because I need it for a game but just because I can.

So I built this today, say hello to my little retro scifi tank 😎

Sadly, as is often the case, I got so caught up building the thing, that I completely forgot to take pictures during construction.
To atone for my sins I'll try to give you a list of the components used.

5mm foamcore for the main hull.
The drives are a 6mm bead, a piece of tubing from a kids balloon and a .177 air rifle pellet.
The turret is a 10mm bead which has been ground down almost but not completely halfway and the barrel is the gas vent valve from a mini bic lighter.

All in all this was an easy and fun little project, I hope this will inspire you to try some scratch building yourself.

Also for those wondering, the minis in the pictures are GZG NAC troopers which I added a green stuff helmet crest and a cape to.

Hope you enjoyed my idle afternoon's labour as much as me πŸ˜‰

Cheers,
Stroezie.

For those of you who think 6mm Space Hulk is a good idea check out Link

25£ for a complete terrain and counter set with airlocks that open and close and a resource tracker thrown in to boot!
I've been following the developpement of this over on Tactical Command and now its finally been released for sale.
I'm actually thinking of buying a set myself

Cheers,
Srtoezie.

How to Filch Some Feltz

as I showed you in my previous post over on The Wargames Website in the Sponsoring Members section we are having a build your own alien fauna competition.
Now while I am quite happy with how my own creature turned out, and I think he'll do well,I really liked Victoria Dickson's creatures the Feltz.
In fact I liked them so much I decided I had to have some for my own stables.
Without hesitation I called upon one of the more reputable interstellar smugglers amongst my contacts to fly to Dickson's world and get me my own little flock of the cute little blighters.

And here they are, still a little disoriented from space travel, but doing fine so far

For those of you wondering how I managed to pull this off I'll post some pictures with bare bones explanation but before you read on be sure to check out Victoria's original sculpts on her blog here as my sculpts are based on her creations and all credit for developing them goes to her.

So to start with I pulled out my trusty bead collection and used a 6mm and a 3mm bead, four hole punch plastic card rivets, a tooth pick and some super glue to knock together some quick and dirty armatures.

Then it was a simple matter of adding some 50/50 green stuff/milliput

And a little paint

And we can now welcome the Feltz to God's Own Scale.

Well that's it.
I hope you like them, and I hope you don't mind Victoria, they were just too cute I had to have some for myself( I'm a total sucker when it comes to cute animals, I have a dog and three cats to prove it πŸ˜‰ )

Cheers,
Stroezie.
